If you have kids and visiting Thassos, you are in for a treat. Thassos has been blessed with a brand new Aqua Park in Skala Marion. Do you know what that means? It’s time for your little ones to have some fun while you rest and enjoy a drink on the beach! Here is everything you need to know about the Aqua Park Thassos, one of the best 101 things to see on the island.
GET TO KNOW THE AQUA PARK THASSOS
Where is the Aqua Park Thassos?
You will find the Aqua Park Thassos 400 meters from the scenic port village of Skala Maries. Contrary to what you might think if you hear of Aqua Parks, the venue is right in the ocean. Fortunately, it faces the west side of the island and is protected by the strong south and strong winds from the port and the natural landscape of the Faros peninsula in the area.
The nearest villages are Skala Kallirachi in the north, Limenaria in the South, and Maries in the east.
What floaties can you find in the Aqua Park Thassos?
There are multiple floaties in the waterpark, and it is easy to walk or swim from one to another. If you want numbers, there are 7 gaming areas, with the most popular being the new addition of the bouncy floaty on the southern corner. Among others, you will find a swing, slides, obstacles, and my favorite, the trampoline.
How deep is the water in the Aqua Park Maries?
The water in the Aqua Park Maries is between 3 to 4 meters deep, making the park one of its kind. Whereas other waterparks are on land, this aquapark is in the ocean, about 30 meters away from the sandy beach. Even though at 4 meters depth, the water is so clear that you can see the sandy bottom.

Fortunately, there is no maximum age restriction, so feel free to celebrate your fiftieth birthday on the watery slides of Aqua Park Thassos. Do you have to wear a life jacket to enter the Aqua Park Maries?
Absolutely yes! Your life jacket can prove extremely useful even if you are an experienced swimmer. After all, you are jumping around most of the time, so the life jacket is there to protect you and others in case something unfortunate happens.

Yes, there is always a lifeguard on duty in the Aqua Park Maries. He usually sits on the western side of the waterpark, overlooking the kids and adults playing. Remember, his job is to interfere in case of imminent danger, and he is not a babysitter. So, if you’re looking for a guardian, you might want to accompany your kids.
Is it safe for kids to play in the Aqua Park Maries?
In short, yes. But, at the same time, safety is a somewhat relative term and means different things for different parents. Of course, Aqua Park Maries is a legit business that follows all relevant rules and precautions.
Plus, all the floaties strictly comply with high standards certified by TUV EN15649 and are made by Aquaglide, a German company with many years of experience in marine amusement parks.
Also, note that every child or adult that enters the Aqua Park must know swimming.

GETTING TO AQUA PARK MARIES
How to get to the Aqua Park Thassos from Skala Maries?
From the center of Skala Marion, you must walk or drive 300 meters to reach the Aqua Park Thassos. However, if you are on the southern side of the port with the car, you would need to do a 2-kilometer loop since the road between the taverns and port is one-way.
How to get to the Aqua Park Maries from Limenaria?
Although you can follow the main coastal road from Limenaria to Skala Maries, taking the northern route through Kalyvia might save you from some traffic and even gain you a minute or two.
